Peer-mentoring

I work with visual artists to support:
new research, work development and production; practice-based PhDs and PhD proposals; artists’ moving image projects.

These conversations take place online or by phone. If this may be of interest and you would like to know more, email me at artistlyndsaymann@gmail.com

I completed a funded practice-based PhD in Art, co-supervised in Philosophy, at the University of Edinburgh in 2017. I’m a visiting artist and workshop facilitator at eductational institutions, museums and art organisations across the UK and Europe. I am currently a project mentor on the MA Film Practice at Arts University Bournemouth, UK. From 2013-2022 I worked as Lecturer in Fine Art at Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh.

Testimonials:

Alex Hetherington, artist filmmaker, Glasgow

“Lyndsay has offered the project a critical, theoretical and emotional grounding during phases of its work in progress. These mentoring conversations have taken the film into new directions resulting in a more impactful, meaningful and emotionally-driven film.”

Catherine Street, artist, Edinburgh

“Lyndsay’s mentoring really helped me to reflect on my practice and formulate a way forward for my project. Her knowledge of research and production was really important and her support was sensitive and positive. She really helped me to realise a new body of work.”

Claire W., artist and PhD candidate, Berlin

"Lyndsay had the expertise to contextualise my work and position it within the broader research landscape. She helped me refine my research questions and provided invaluable guidance. She took the time to engage deeply with my work, and even after one session, I felt that it helped me to become clearer about my overall project."
