New Mothers’ Assembly

New Mothers’ Assembly is a pilot series of 6 weekly art and conversation sessions I am developing with and for mothers in response to the collections and archive at Surgeons’ Hall Museum, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (details on the flyer below).

Sessions will explore the medical history of childbirth and current experiences of new motherhood. Topics for making and talking will be developed with those taking part, and potentially include: gynaecology, awkwardness and the female body; scientific research and intuition; the language of contemporary obstetrics; women’s networks and information sharing.

Supported by Creative Scotland.
