CITIZENS: Teasel and Scabious

Citizens: Teasel and Scabious. 2012  (19:11 min) HD, bw + col, En/Sp.

A performance-for-camera work
Spanish poet Garfias was briefly in Scotland while in exile in 1938.  This film takes as its departure point Pablo Neruda’s retelling of this; his friend’s time in Scotland en route to Mexico and the important kinship Garfias experienced through conversations with a local man where neither held any grasp of the other’s language. Citizens: Teasel and Scabious
re-imagines this experience for the exiled Garfias.

Supported by an Alt-w Award from New Media Scotland, funded by Centre for Design Informatics and Creative Scotland
